Understanding Recurring Tasks

When hearing the term recurring tasks, a young career-minded individual might instantly reflect on their worklife, as the concept of recurring tasks are the general baseline of many project management models. Recurring tasks are tasks that occur on a regular basis, like weekly reports, code reviews and more. Companies invest in management softwares that allow you to create and duplicate tasks to rid the need to manually create new ones for each week. Think google calendar and team meets set every workday-Monday for the entire year, scheduling the company’s weekly sales review.

Your own life is no different than your work life in many ways. Recurring tasks are in our personal life, even if that is something we don’t consciously think about. These tasks are the core to all human beings and how they live, and that’s why we are discussing them here as an essential part of the Industrious Framework and why it’s important we identify the tasks we do time and time again.

Automating the above

Using our time in the most productive ways is a collective problem. I feel it, my friends feel it and I am sure you sometimes feel it as well. How can I ensure everything I need is taken care of (by me, of course) in the most optimal way, so that most of my extra time is catered towards something I enjoy or something that will bring me to better productivity.

If I were to ask you how much time you spend doing any of the tasks above, I would imagine it's a considerable amount. That’s why automating tasks, like project management models do, can significantly help save you more time. Starting with bills, your electricity, water and rent can almost always be paid by recurring and automatic payments with emails of the expenses paid, sent to you. This way, if you’re a budgeter or money-tracker, you can easily file this task away. Another example of having your recurring tasks automated is setting an alarm clock once for every subsequent morning. You can make different alarms for work days and weekends.

Automation within industries is continuing to grow steadily, especially since the start of the Corona Pandemic in 2019. So, even though shopping for clothes or other goods may be an infrequent event, consumers visit groceries on a regular basis. Instead of spending the hours it takes to successfully shop for food, there are now easier ways to shop all online and have your goods delivered to you within the next day or two. But, we’ll wait a few years because the grocery industry is working on innovative ways to make grocering even more automatic.

Improving Quality of Recurring Tasks

Recurring tasks are always happening and doing them half-heartedly is something that can come natural to us. Sometimes this lack of quality can do more harm in the long run. Eating for sustenance should include delicious and nutritious foods, and not only easy to prepare and go meals. Even though spending less time on tasks means more time for other things, diminishing the quality of our tasks and task-doing is not a good means to get that extra time. We will talk more about this in depth as we go through the tasks on their own, but I strongly believe that if I were to go to people and preach to them how they can be eating more delicious food, sleeping better, or spending less time worrying, they would want to start. Industrious Framework aims to upping the quality of everyday recurring tasks.

Consistent Surplus

Automation is great but it can only go so far because you will still have to keep track of items; what needs to be refilled, upkeeped and tasks you have done and when they were done. It’s difficult to always be exact with specifics about quantities and timings, so consistent surplus is definitely an idea to consider. When you always maintain some surplus (food, clothing, commute and sleep time), you will find it easier to manage recurring tasks. Always having more than you need can also be surprisingly less expensive and we will delve more into the idea of consistent surplus to show you how. I would like to also argue that surplus allows humanity as a whole to be more successful.

Embracing the Idea of a Professional Help

Alas, Rosey the robot still isn’t part of your average household, and most of the tasks aforementioned, will be done through a human. If it is in your means to hire then getting professional help to clean, shop and do recurring chores can be beneficial. The Industrious Framework goes beyond just employing the help you need but part of our framework is to truly embrace the idea. One way to look at professional help, especially within modern westernized countries, is to rely on lower class society to fill these positions, but with the framework perspective this shouldn’t be the case. We are going to argue that we could be helping people find extra income but we will also delve into ways we can help others step into roles they are potentially passionate about like cooking, organizing and even managing, and aid them with gaining more experience and more clientele. Professional help can support both sides of the relationship and even when you’re on the hiring side, this notion shouldn’t be forgotten.
